Deutscher Kinderschutzbund Bundesverband e.V.
The DKSB is a politically and religiously independent non-government organization (NGO) founded in Hamburg in 1953. As Germany’s largest child protection agency, it is organized into a national association (lobbying on the national level), 16 state associations (carrying out lobbying work on the state level, providing training for professionals, and supporting local associations), and more than 430 local associations (delivering practical support and counselling for children and their parents).
It has 50 000 members, 10 000 voluntary workers (trained, supervised, and supported by full-time staff), and 5 000 full-time staff. It is funded through membership fees, donations, court-imposed fines, and some local authority grants.
